At the current moment, basic technologies were proven successful in different communication environments. This includes high potential technologies such as usage of sub-THz and THz spectrum, network sensing, software only/cloud native/organic adaptable networks and RAN open and centralized architectures and basic non-terrestrial networks convergence.
Having this as premise, pre-standardization applied research can now start, bringing clarity in architectural options, functionality split, protocols and interfaces. This is the area where the research Fraunhofer FOKUS Institute is actively contributing in speeding up the overall technology adoption.
